Translation Service Lead – Urdu

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and culturally fluent Translation Service Lead – Urdu to oversee the translation, localization, and linguistic quality of content for our dynamic travel platform. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate, engaging, and contextually appropriate content across websites, booking flows, customer communications, and travel-related services.

This is a remote leadership role that blends linguistic excellence, quality assurance, and workflow coordination. You’ll serve as the Urdu language owner, leading the verification and validation process for both human and machine-generated translations, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead Urdu linguist and reviewer, overseeing translation quality across digital content, product UI, help articles, marketing materials, and booking interfaces

  • Develop and maintain Urdu language style guides, glossaries, and terminology resources tailored to the travel industry

  • Review, edit, and validate machine translation (MT) output, post-edited content, and vendor-delivered translations for linguistic accuracy, tone, and cultural fit

  • Collaborate with UX, content design, SEO, and product teams to ensure high-impact, localised experiences for Urdu-speaking users

  • Lead quality assurance (QA) processes including linguistic testing, regression validation, and UI string verification across platforms

  • Track and resolve content issues related to grammar, context, truncation, or encoding

  • Manage freelance translators or vendor teams, providing feedback and conducting quality audits

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Urdu content pipelines, including integration of AI/ML-assisted translation workflows

  • Support localisation KPIs, content readiness for product launches, and user feedback resolution

Qualifications:

  • Native or near-native fluency in Urdu, with strong command of modern, region-neutral usage

  • Professional-level fluency in English

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in translation, localization, or linguistic QA—preferably in tech, travel, or digital services

  • Experience leading or managing Urdu translation workflows, including oversight of vendor or freelancer output

  • Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., Smartling, Memsource, Phrase, Trados) and QA tools (e.g., Xbench, Verifika)

  • Solid understanding of cultural nuances, regional differences (Pakistan, diaspora), and user expectations in the travel domain

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams

  • Prior experience working with MT post-editing, TMS platforms, or AI-supported translation a plus

Preferred:

  • Experience with UX copy, mobile app localization, or voice/UI string adaptation

  • Understanding of SEO principles, metadata, and keyword localization

  • Knowledge of travel, hospitality, or tourism terminology and services
